Our children are our most impressionable members. It is not just our job to enrich their spirituality; it is our obligation as elders. Each Sunday at 10:00 a.m. our children meet in age-appropriate classes and specially designed and designated rooms. For everyone from infants through teens, we make each Sunday meaningful in a loving environment through art, music and drama.
AWE (Awesome Worship Experience) This service is held each Sunday during the 11:00 am service. AWE is a unique worship service designed for children in PreK – 6th grade. The service will use the KidsOwn Worship© materials by FaithWeaver©. All children are invited to lead the congregation in the song Open Doors at the beginning of the service. The AWE service will begin after either Open Doors or Children’s moments (held one Sunday per month). This special service uses music, games, drama, art and prayer to teach the word of God to the children of God. The service is held in the Tree Room on the lower level of the church. Sunday S choolBegins each Sunday from 10:00 am – 10:45 am in the Sunday School rooms on the lower level of the church. The new school program will begin on Sunday, September 13! Through the FaithWeaver© resources, the children will explore the same Bible stories as the Wednesday evening programs and AWE service in a unique and age appropriate way. The core of FaithWeaver© is based on the idea that families can grow in faith together. Each family will receive weekly updates through the children’s ministry newsletter and FamilyConnect™, Faithweaver’s© weekly conversation starters. Classes are held in rooms on the lower level of the church. Here are the new classroom assignments: Preschool--in the nursery, PreK - 1st grade--in the Tree Room, 2nd- 4th grade class--in the Peace Lounge, 5th - 7th grade class--in the Star Gazing room for Sunday school, 8th - 12th grade class--in the Donnenwirth Teen Lounge. Join us each Sunday for fun and fellowship! KAMP (King Avenue Music Plus) KAMP is a six-week rotational program. These Wednesday evening activities include special programming in three rotations: Bells/Chimes, Children’s Choir, and Drama. In these six-week programs, the children rotate to each station throughout the evening. The Sunday following KAMP, the children will share their talents at the 11 a.m. Worship Service. Dinner will be served at 6:00 pm Children’s Library
If you have been in the hallway across from the Nursery on the third floor or the Chil
dren’s Sunday School Rooms on the lower level, you may have noticed new book carts. These are the start of a new “Children's Library.” Elizabeth Bridges, the Children’s Librarian, will be setting up a method to allow books to be borrowed and returned in early September. In the meantime, we are looking for books. If you are cleaning out your children's rooms and have gently used books or browsing at the book store and come across your favorite childhood book, please contact the church office about making a donation. Volunteer Opportunity: Do you want to give your time and gifts to King Avenue's children? Then you need to complete the Volunteer Form and give the completed copy to April Olt, Children and Youth Coordinator. Also, please contact April if you have any questions.
